The flowers I spoke of in my last post were seen today for the first time. By the time I got out to take a picture--about 10:30--they were already starting to fade. Probably because of the heat.
The top picture is of the "mother" bush in the neighbour's yard. Since the house changed hands a few years back, the entire yard--and it was magnificent--has been just left. All they do is hire someone to come in and cut the grass once in awhile.
The bottom picture is the tiny bush on our side of the fence. David now tells me that there is a second "volunteer" rose bush growing close to the first one. He has cleared out all around the area to encourage both of them to prosper.
