House insurance

Went and talked to the agency.  Clarified quite a  few things.  There are new regulations about how policies are to be written.  As a result we received a package of over 40 pages as part of our renewal process, and really needed to sort things out.  When we were finished. as we were preparing to leave she asked if we had ever had a second quote on our insurance.  No-we've been renewing the policy for almost twenty years and have been with the same provider since 1976, when we bought our first house.  She took a look for us and found an equivalent policy ( same guaranteed replacement cost) for over $400 less per year.  She explained that if you stay with the same company and policy, the rate just keeps going up, bit by bit, year after year, and that it's always good to check rates periodically.  Needless to say, we've changed provider.

Yesterday, David suggested that maybe, it's time to have the rug cleaned.  (Yu' think!?!)  So he called, and they're coming today.  Since we're also having the yard cleaned up for Spring, this week, you will probably smell the plastic burning from here.

Have finished the machine sewing on all of the little tree ornaments I plan to make ( and more!)  I now have them packed up ready to take anywhere I go, where hand sewing is required, or even tolerated.  Circumstances have dictated that I'm out in Selkirk 4-5 times over the next few days, but one trip I can avoid is today's. Which is a good idea as I'll be more comfortable if I'm home when the carpet cleaners come.  We've been dealing with the same outfit for years. (I think I've mentioned them. They have an office in the rear portion of the dentist's office at Bartlett and Osborne)  But, it's been a rocky ride at times.  As well, the smell has driven David out of the house every time they've come. Better I'm here.

There is a second excuse for not going, today.  There is a new Freshco Store opening today in the same lot as our Starbucks.  We have a coupons, but more exciting there is a Cantor's Express opening inside the store itself.  This is a a real treat, as we love Cantor's but rarely make the trek over to the other side of the city to visit.  Since Freshco is advertised as a "discount" version of Sobey's, I'm hoping that we will find prices comparable to Superstore, and can stop going there.  Since they re-organized the store, and the aisles are now the entire length of the store, it is just too much for these old legs.  We have discussed avoiding Superstore several times in the last little while, and now may find a reason to do so.  I'll be sure to check out the pharmacy, not for prescriptions, but for the otc stuff that is costing us over $100/month.  If not, there is still Walmart.

So now to start cleaning up the kitchen for the carpet cleaners.  Have you ever heard of anything so ridiculous?  But they will need the kitchen sink, so best not have any dishes there.  Although taking a look,  it would appear that David has taken care of the problem, while I was busy typing.  Well done, Dave!

p.s. took a minute to check the few blogs I follow.  One, Sherrie loves Color,( http://sherriequilt.blogspot.com/ ) blogged about two rescue rabbits that have just had babies.  One a neat thing to have witnessed!
