Strange life

David told me something scarey yesterday. The highlight of the day is when the Postman comes and they talk for a couple of minutes. You may know that the Post office has introduced a new parcel delivery system, whereby the actual postman will be delivering parcels, instead of having a special truck come out to try to deliver them to the house. This has caused hate and discontent within the Postal system, and there have been wild cat strikes in a couple of areas of Winnipeg. Since they are wildcat strikes, other union members can be brought in to voluntarily do the job. Our mailman has actually been doing other routes, working into the evening--at overtime rates, of course, although he says that he had declined some weekend work. Yesterday, when he came around, at noon, on his regular route, he was wearing a Kevlar vest and had a communication device of some sort with him.
Serious stuff when it hits your street.
