Opportunity

Seems like we are all facing one.  I don't jump at every opportunity that faces me, but I now acknowledge them, if even to myself.  That way my choice becomes the result of a conscious decision.  Cathy, which Museum are you considering?  Or is there only one?

My decision involves two opportunities to display my work, one in the Selkirk Gallery for a month, and the other in a travelling show which would have it seen all over the province, over a period of years.  I also think that there is a small chance that I could do both, and I'll have to look into that.  I may be able to find out at a meeting I plan to attend on Saturday.  This meeting is a " come and do your own thing" workshop, at the library in Selkirk, but sponsored by Textile and Fibre Art Manitoba.  There will be a meeting embedded in the workshop and I'm sure we'll be talking about the upcoming travelling show. The issue is the actual dates for having the pieces handed in.

Tuesday's movie was "Birds of Prey".  However, I read that the title is changing as a result of what would be considered a poor return on opening weekend.  This is a Marvel movie, so lots and lots of violence, but not necessarily everything making sense.  There have been articles written about it, talking about the relevance of the "MeToo" movement, and the growing demand for more female based movies, on productions like this.  The credits had far more female names than male, especially in things like "Produced by" and "Directed by".  The plot was very simple as most Marvel productions are, but it focused on women who have been treated poorly and taken advantage of by entitled men, who then "kick Ass" when they come to realize that they actually can.  In this movie it was "kick ass" for real. We had agreed before buying tickets, that if David couldn't stand it we would leave, but he managed to last to the end.  If you factor in that the main lady was an insane psychiatrist, who had been the lover of The Joker, and he had dumped her, you can understand what a crazy two hours it really was.  The actual ending appeared to promise a sequel.

This morning my friend Geesje will be delivering the quilt she has been long arming for me.  Not sure what might happen to it once it's finished but I'll  be glad to get it home.  Then I can start another one.  I think I've figured out what my next step will be in the mod and/or improv piecing I've been working on, off and on, since spring.  But that's for the other blog.
