Your post has started a dialogue in this house. While we've both been settled into our life on a pension for going on 20 years, after reading your post we started asking ourselves about survivor benefits. We both have 2/3 survivor benefits on our work pensions, but are unclear about survivor benefits on our Government pensions. And those will have a huge impact on the future. We couldn't get any clear answers off the internet. So next step was to look for a Service Canada Centre. There used to be lots of them-not any more. ( Gotta love Google) But we've found one and plan to visit Monday. While we have larger questions, one specific one is --could one of us afford to continue to live in this house. That has huge ramifications for the immediate future.
